The Nekhor team, as part of Lhasey Lotsawa Translations & Publications, has been hard at work over the past five years researching the holy sites of Guru Padmsambhava in Nepal. We are now honored to announce the publication of the fruits of these efforts: Following in Your Footsteps: The Lotus-Born Guru in Nepal—to be released auspiciously on Lhabap Düchen (November 19, 2019), the festival celebrating the Buddha’s descent from Tushita heaven, via Rangjung Yeshe Publications!
To inaugurate this special event, we wish to invite you to join us this November 12–14 and 16–19 on our inaugural Tukdrup Barché Kunsel pilgrimage. The Tukdrup Barché Kunsel—The Guru’s Heart Practice: The Dispeller of Obstacles—is a unique treasure cycle revealed by the great treasure revealers Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa (1829–1870) and Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo (1820–1892). This treasure trove of instructions and practices invoking Guru Padmasambhava is said to be particularly powerful in this day and age, and it has repeatedly proven to be a powerful method to dispel all the obstacles that the practitioners face on their spiritual path.
This treasure cycle’s central prayer is the famous Barché Lamsel, which relates the particular powerful events where Guru Padmasambhava dispelled obstacles. On this very special pilgrimage we will follow the famous Barché Lamsel prayer, visiting the four sacred sites in Nepal where the Mahaguru dispelled obstacles, namely: Maratika, Asura Cave & Yangleshö, Yarinak, Chumik Changchup, and Tsawarong.
Four of the five sacred sites are located in remote areas of Nepal, and thus this pilgrimage presents a unique opportunity to visit three places of the Mahaguru’s enlightened activity seldom seen by the casual tourist. As we trace our own spiritual journey back to these pivotal moments, the monks of Ka-Nying Shedrup Ling will lead us in offering the Tukdrup Barché Kunsel feast-offering. Together we will recite the Barché Lamsel prayer, we will make aspirations, and we will deepen our practice through this pilgrimage experience. Finally, we will dedicate the merit for the benefit of all.
Our pilgrimage will be divided into two parts: The first part will be a pilgrimage to Maratika. Due to the long journey to Maratika, there needs to be a minimum of four participants. The second part of our pilgrimage will begin with a dinner at Amrita House, just near the Boudha Stupa, on November the 15th at 7pm.
First Part:
· November 12th – Journey to Maratika
· November 13th – Visiting Maratika
· November 14th – Return to Kathmandu
· Break Day
Second Part:
· November 16th – Asura Cave & Yangleshö
· November 17th – Yarinak
· November 18th – Chumik Changchup
· November 19th – Tsawarong
